Nika International gets new competitors from Gothenburg?

Göteborg, October 2, 2015

Rumor has now reached the media that Volvo with Polestar Cyan Racing probably will begin an effort to start competing in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, WTCC, the official World Championship Series for standard cars.

Nika International has competed in the WTCC since 2013 and has multiple wins in the trunk and has so far been the only Swedish WTCC team.

If Volvo aims for the WTCC we want to be among the first to welcome them to the WTCC family. Exciting facts are also that if Volvo goes along with this project there will be two international racing teams that are based in Gothenburg.

Within the WTCC series automakers such as Honda, Citroen, Chevrolet and Lada are already competing. The championship it selves experience a strong development with new circuits and even greater media coverage. For the next season there will also be new exiting components within the race concept. In 2016 FIA WTCC brings you MAC 3! Manufacturers Against the Clock, a team time trial inspired by the Tour de France!

By next week Polestar Racing Cyan will hold a press conference and reveal their WTCC plan. What the plan will cover are still unknown but rumor tells us that they will come up with a two car strategy. Looking forward to meet the Volvo V60 WTCC in the 2016 WTCC series.

More information about this after next week’s press conference at Polstar Cyan Racing.
